Move to PNC Tower Confirmed
Yum! Brands, the Louisville-based fast-food giant, is relocating to a new corporate headquarters building in downtown Louisville.
According to an October 30 release, the firm, which owns brands such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut, would take over four and a half floors of the PNC Tower at 101 S. Fifth St.
The announcement comes after talk erupted in May that the famous Louisville company will relocate from its current location off Gardiner Lane. The land was granted to JCPS in June, and the school district will move in after the corporation relocates.
A New Era for Yum! Brands
“Our new offices will support the flexibility, creativity, and collaboration of our unrivaled culture and talent, which is what makes Yum! unique,” CEO Chris Turner said in a statement. “… We’re excited for the opportunities that lie ahead in the next chapter of Yum! Brands in Louisville.”
Relocation Timeline and Workforce Impact
The corporation is expected to relocate in 2026 once improvements are made. More than 500 Louisville workers are scheduled to migrate downtown. The move confirms the company’s commitment to Louisville, which faced public outcry in February when KFC announced its headquarters transfer to Plano, Texas, for a total of $7 million.
Statements from City Leadership
“We’re thrilled to have worked with Yum! Brands to secure its future in Louisville for years to come by locating its corporate office and employees in the heart of our city,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg stated in a press statement. “I appreciate Yum!’s commitment to Louisville and look forward to welcoming these employees downtown to enjoy the fantastic amenities, restaurants, parks, entertainment venues, museums, and so much more — it’s great to see downtown bustling again with businesses, employees, and visitors.”
JCPS will begin the relocation process only once Yum! Brands has completed its move to its new Louisville headquarters. More information on the date of JCPS’s move will be released when Yum! Brands finalizes its plans and the project moves forward,” JCPS executives said in a statement.
KFC Headquarters Transition
Yum! Brands also announced in February that it would relocate its KFC U.S. corporate offices to Plano, Texas, where the Pizza Hut headquarters are situated.
